Our Story

BX-3000ADAPTIX's Chief Technology Advisor, Dr. Hui Liu, was a key founding member of the team that created Broadstorm in 2000, a technology startup company that later evolved to become today's ADAPTIX. Broadstorm (ADAPTIX's predecessor), was one of the very first companies in the world to begin work on developing 4G wireless technology and equipment designed to enable reliable broadband communications in any environment.

Dr. Liu and his core team created Broadstorm in an effort to commercialize his early vision for 4G wireless broadband technology. At Broadstorm, he and his team conceived, built, and patented critical equipment and network features that form the foundation of today's advanced 4G broadband wireless technology and systems. Broadstorm grew quickly and at one point employed over 100 employees and engineers that labored diligently to create, market, and sell its 4G equipment. The reality was Broadstorm was well ahead of its time and while it was inventing actual 4G equipment, there wasn't sufficient market demand and the existing investors withdrew their support. In 2004, Broadstorm's assets were conveyed to a newly constituted company - ADAPTIX. With the influx of new capital to fund continuing research and development, many of Broadstorm's engineers and scientists, including Dr. Liu, continued their work with the newly formed ADAPTIX. In addition to Broadstorm's first generation Broad@ir system, ADAPTIX developed multiple generations of OFDMA based 4G systems including the MOTION 2100 Base Station and 210 User Terminal, and the BX-3000 Base Station and SX series of user terminals.

ADAPTIX persevered in its efforts to sell the 4G equipment it created and continued to evolve the systems which the industry showered with praise. For example, in 2006, ADAPTIX demonstrated its pioneering equipment at the WiMAX World Expo and won its prestigious "Best in Show" Award. The following year, ADAPTIX was named as one of the "Fierce 15" by FierceBroadbandWireless, "…distinguishing the [top] 15 privately held emerging companies we believe hold the most promise to help shape the wireless broadband industry...".

Ultimately, because the 4G market was still in its infancy, the company adapted to the prevailing economic conditions and changed its business model. Today, ADAPTIX's team – one that has decades of experience collectively in the telecommunications industry - works to license the intellectual property stemming from years of investment in Broadstorm's and ADAPTIX's pioneering research and development efforts.
